Met's Costume Institute Gala - New York City

Okay this past weekend was the "Oscars of Fashion" in New York City so naturally all your fave celebrities came out dressed up and below are my picks, best and worst dressed.

Rihanna went Avant-Garde to me and although I don't love,love it, I definitely think its a good "comeback" outfit. Perfect place, good statement.




Ciara's look i love, love! The backless statement is fabulous! She looks in great shape andI would love that outfit for me! lol. I also like the clean, beautiful hairstyle that is not over the top and lets the dress do the talking.






Tyra did tyra. Outrageous and borders on mortisha from adams family! down to the facial expression lol but I love that she took a risk. No better occassion to take risks than at the "Oscars of fashion". I love taking risks with fashion, if you must-make sure you are comfortable in your own skin so it doesnt come off as crazy.

And Tyra is confidence!



NowKanye's Amber - The only problem for me is I do not particularly believe in matching lipstick to the color of your dress. All together no surprise there with Amber, I kind of know what to expect with her fashion-wise since she came on the scene.


Beautiful Ladies-Iman and Eva did gold silk and they looked fabulous, no risks there just beautiful dresses that showed off their curves nicely.


Worst dressed hands down - Madonna, I mean most of us love the material girl but what was she thinking?

Chicago, Ghita and all things sweet!

Happy 4th of July!..a day after. I hope you did fill up on some good food/fireworks. Anyways I promised to return with a blog about Chicago and one of my favorite labels, Ghita by Alexis Phifer. Chicago I went to the Windy city to see one of my best friends and shout out to her for making sure I had a wonderful time. 1 star out of 5 for her..lol. If you have never been, you have to at some point. Wherever you are, out of the US, make it your stop on the way in; within the US, look for a cheap ticket on a weekend. What I did like about the place was the downtown scene, from the shopping street corners with designers like Coach, Armani, Louis Vuitton and more to the food....ah the food, the pizza was awesome, best ever and I am so not a pizza-eating person but they won me over! A lot of entertainment and a little confusion

Okay let me start this write up by saying I am a moderate fan of basketball and the reason I went from no-idea-what-the-rules-of-this-game-are to moderate fan is because some friends are huge fans and I often go to and watch a few games. A popular team is the Lakers so it is safe to say I know the faces of most of the team members and a few names in addition. I was familiar with who D.J. Mbenga was on court but not off court as in where he is from and all that including how funny he really is. Anyways I stumbled on the Jimmy Kimmel show last night and about 9 members of the L.A. Lakers team were on the show including Kobe, Fisher, Ariza, Gasol and Mbenga. At some point the whole team was ribbing Mbenga on his accent; thats no problem, infact it looked like the whole team was friendly with each other and you know how guys tease each other, it was fun to watch. Most of us who grew up in Nigeria remember the late activist and poet Ken Saro-Wiwa and the mystery surounding his execution along with 9 others in 1995.
